HEMORRHOIDS: (piles) - a mass of veins which become swollen and
enlarged near the anal
sphincter (opening). Symptoms include discomfort and pain upon evacuating fecal material
or when sitting and can be accompanied with itching, mucous, and bleeding. Cause: too many refined, fried, fatty, and
low residue foods, constipation, overeating, lack of exercise, too much sitting or a Vitamin B6 deficiency. They can be internal (or within the lining of the anal canal), external (which are located at the opening of the anus)
and prolapsed (which protrude outside the anus). They are literally a "real
pain in the A _ _".
Self Help – (1)Try to regulate your toilet habits of sitting at the same time each
day to try to evacuate your bowels, avoid straining. (2) keep the area clean. (3) Apply warm
moist heat (sitz baths) to the area for at least 10-20 minutes. (4) Take a good 1/2 hr walk every day.
(5) Increase your fiber and water intake. |
