Reiki (Usui Shiki Ryoho or the Usui system of natural healing)
is a Japanese word for universal life energy originating as
a branch of Tibetan Buddhism. It was rediscovered in the 19th
Century by Dr. Mikao Usui who studied Buddhism, learned Chinese
and Sanskrit, and found knowledge in an Indian sutra or sacred
text. Reiki is a method of healing which taps into the unseen
flow of energy that is found in all living things. It is the
ability to channel healing power by attuning each of these philosophies.

of energy by placing his/her hands over a specific area of ones
